if you get a text from this number +14793525777 claiming to be father Bosco block it. It's a scammer.
In recent years, scammers have been sending you emails pretending to be either Fr.
Bosco or me, asking you for a favor, or money or gift cards. Please be vigilant as we are
getting closer to Christmas, they will be harassing you with undesired emails. As you
toggle the mouse over the email address you will notice that the email address isn’t from
either one of us. We will never send you such requests by email. The announcements will
be made in Church and you do know our email addresses. Do not fall for the scammer’s
despicable, shameless actions. Always contact the office when in doubt before
responding to such emails, phone calls and text messages.
Stay one step ahead of online scammers. Here are ways they try to reach us:
From phone calls about fake car warranties to texts targeting lonely people.
Fake sites, pop-ups and bad downloads are all techniques employed, often
aimed at stealing financial information.
These scams often are phishing, deploying malware to steal your personal
information. (“Phishing is a type of social engineering where an attacker sends a fraudulent
(e.g., spoofed, fake, or otherwise deceptive) message designed to trick a person into revealing
sensitive information to the attacker or to deploy malicious software on the victim's
infrastructure like ransomware”).
Senior citizens are often targeted: the FBI has identified scams targeting older
people including but not limited to fraudulent tech support and posing as
relatives.
